Candide

To coincide with National Tree Week 2020, gardening app Candide ran a national campaign in support of Community Forest Trust.

The campaign was launched by plantsman and broadcaster Chris Beardshaw and encouraged the nation to become Tree Inspired.

Members of the Candide community engaged with the campaign to share their love of trees and learn something new about the trees in their local parks and gardens. They also helped raise money to plant trees across England through purchasing sustainable e-Christmas cards and by Dedicating a Tree for a loved one in the Candide Marketplace.

600,000 members of the free gardening app picked up new hints and tricks about how to plant trees in their local greenspace, which species is best to plant and how to tell the difference between them. Community Forest Trust also shared the hidden benefits of trees encouraging users to try the ancient act of Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing).

During the campaign Candide were the headline sponsor of the Garden Media Guild Awards attended by high profile garden writers across the country including Alan Titchmarsh. Candide donated a tree in the name of every person who attended the awards, raising £3,000 which is enough to support over 300 trees in Community Forests around England.

Sarah Nurton, Marketing Lead for Community Forest Trust said:

“We were so delighted that Candide Gardening chose to support Community Forest Trust as part of their #TreeInspired campaign. The response we got from the Candide community to activity in the app was wonderful, it’s great to see so many gardeners showing their passion for trees.

“The donations will support the planting of 325 trees in Community Forests across England. Thank you to everyone who made donations in the marketplace and to Candide for the very generous donation during the Garden Media Guild Awards”.
